Willing & Able

Jay & Heather Bean

Lead Pastor

In this series, we learn how to use our time and resources to advance the Kingdom of God and make a difference. Pastor Jay continues the Be Rich series by teaching we are blessed and by giving we can make a difference in the lives of others.

BE RICH

Willing & Able (Part 2)

WILLING

1 Timothy 6:17-19 – Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Philippians 2:13 (CEV) – God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him.

1 Chronicles 29:3, 5 (NKJV) – Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver… Now, who is willing to consecrate himself today to the LORD?

2 Corinthians 8:12 – For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable…

  • Obedience
  • Feels good
  • We are family
  • Vision
  • Blessing
  • To be an example
  • Love – an expression of thankful love

ABLE

1. Intentional giving

  • 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, 11 – Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly,  and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver… You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

2. Percentage giving

  • Mark 12:43-44 – Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.”

3.  Eternal giving

  • 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 – If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.

God has blessed me with more than I need so I can make a difference in the life of others.
