• 1 Cor. 4:15 (MSG) – There are a lot of people around who can’t wait to tell you what you’ve done wrong, but there aren’t many fathers willing to take the time and effort to help you grow up.
• 1 Timothy 1:1-2 – A true son in the faith
• 2 Timothy 1:1-2, 5-7 – a beloved son, faith passed through the generations

1. STAY FAITHFUL

A. Stay in the Game

• 1 Timothy 1:3 – Stay faithful where you are
• 1 Timothy 4:13 – Stay at your post reading scripture, giving counsel, teaching and special gift
• 2 Timothy 2:1 – Throw yourself into this work

B. Keep Your Eye on the Ball

• 1 Timothy 4:16 – Keep a firm grasp on yourself and your teaching
• 1 Timothy 4:16 – Don’t be diverted, keep at it
• 2 Timothy 3:1 – Don’t be naive, hard times are ahead
• 2 Timothy 4:5 – Keep your eye on what you are doing, accept the hard times with the good, do the work of an evangelist (keep the message alive), do a thorough job

C. Stick with the Basics

• 1 Timothy 4:12-15 – Cultivate these things in your life
• 2 Timothy 3:10-17 – Stick with what you have learned and believed
