Tim and Susan May have been in ministry for nearly 30 years and have been a part of Grace Church since 2020. They both have a deep passion for building relationships and helping folks experience the restoring and transforming love of God!

Q&A with Tim

1) ONE INTERESTING FACT ABOUT ME…

Though you can’t tell it now, in high school I competed nationally as a powerlifter.

2) WHAT DO YOU DO HERE AT GRACE CHURCH?

I’m the lead pastor, but I’m brand new to Grace Church. So at this point, my main job is to get to know the wonderful folks in the congregation, build solid relationships with the Staff, Council, and leaders, and share God’s Word. (I’m excited to do all these!)

3) HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT JESUS?

After my parents divorced, my Mom became a passionate follower of Christ. She took my sister and me to church a half dozen times a week! Sometime around age 10, I professed my faith in Jesus. I had some rocky teenage years, but at 17 I fully yielded my life to the lordship of Christ.

4) FAVORITE EXPRESSION OR PHRASE

People matter more than things.

5) FAVORITE CUP OF COFFEE?

I’ll drink almost any coffee; but, if I get to pick, it’s Dunkin’ every time.

6) YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT…

A song. I’m one of those people who’s always got some song or another playing in his head. Sometimes, it’s coming out of my mouth!

7) FAVORITE VERSE

Tough question! Presently, I’ve been spending lots of time in John 15. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.” (John 15:4, ESV)

8) FAMILY

Susan, my best friend and wife of nearly 30 years.

Becky is the loudest, most artistic, and most verbal of the May clan. Her husband is Michael. He is more quiet, deeply loyal, and her perfect compliment.

Garrett is dark-eyed, friendly, and built like a linebacker. He looks like me but acts more like Susan.

Ethan is tall, blonde, kind, and witty. His fiancée Amy is also blonde, incredibly sweet, and his perfect compliment.

Trent is quirky, funny, and a walking party looking for a place to happen.

1) ONE INTERESTING FACT ABOUT ME…

In 2004 I was paralyzed from a back operation and was told I would never walk again. The Lord has almost entirely healed me!

2) WHAT DO YOU DO HERE AT GRACE CHURCH?

I’m not exactly sure yet! I know I’ve always been a support to Tim in whatever we’ve been asked to do, so that’s where I’ll leave my answer for now.

3) HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT JESUS?

I grew up in a Christian home so I’ve been going to church since I was a baby. I gave my heart to the Lord at a Kid’s Camp at age 8.

4) FAVORITE EXPRESSION OR PHRASE

“I bet I could figure out how to do that. I’ll check YouTube.”

5) FAVORITE CUP OF COFFEE?

The one I make. I’m wimpy and like really, really light coffee that’s decaffeinated. Tim says I drink coffee-flavored water.

6) YOU’LL NEVER SEE ME WITHOUT…

I love Diet Dr. Pepper; but, I’m trying to stop because I know it’s not good for me!
