Margin and Patience

Tim May

Lead Pastor

Are you living with margin? Are you able to manage those unforeseen or unexpected situations that inevitably crop up?

How about patience? Not just the run of the mill ‘patience’ (although that is still necessary), but what about compassionate patience that the Lord has for us?

With the Woman at the Well, which Pastor Tim has named “Wendy,” Jesus shows us through his interactions with her that these two items belong together and work hand-in-hand.

Engagement Questions:

  1. Are you familiar with the concept of “margin?” How well do you leave “white space” in your schedule and life overall? What’s one thing you can do to create more space for spiritual conversations with others?
  2. Patience is an incredibly powerful tool in connecting with others. When we are able to compassionately wait for a relationship to develop at an unhurried pace, others feel valued and heard. Have you ever tried to rush a conversation? What happened? Why does it often seem hard to be patient with others who don’t know Jesus?
