A Lifestyle Prayer

Jay & Heather Bean

Lead Pastor

As Pastor Jay wraps up the Teach Us to Prayer he shares aspects of a lifestyle prayer. Then he further explores how prayer should be our first response not our last resort and some things that should be on our prayer priority list.

A Lifestyle Prayer (Part 3)

Luke 11:1 – One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

Luke 18:1 (NLT) – One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT) – Never stop praying.

A certain time – Daniel 6:10

A certain place – Mark 1:35

A certain plan – Luke 11:2-4

2 Chronicles 7:13-14  – When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

1. Pray first for our nation

  • 1 Timothy 2:1-2, Proverbs 11:11

2. Pray first for my family

  • Nehemiah 4:14

3. Pray first for the lost

  • Matthew 9:37-38

4. Pray first for my needs

  • Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer should be our first response, not our last resort.
